ALRIGHT GEYSER Tubing At Timanfaya Tuned Up

The Timanfaya National Park, Lanzarote´s most popular tourist attraction, will soon be firing on all cylinders once again. As repairs to the metal tubes which transmit huge jets of steam into the air get underway in earnest.

Over 870,000 people visited the awe inspiring volcanic vistas of Timanfaya during the course of 2014. But the iconic demonstrations of the intense below ground heat in the Park have recently been suspended, thanks to the gradual erosion of the tubes, caused by oxidation.

The tubes were first installed in the 1970´s and are located some 12 to 15 metres below ground. However daily demonstrations’ involving pouring water into the tubes has taken its toll, leading to the current €65,000 restoration project.
