TAKE OFF Tourist Numbers Set To Soar In 2016

All indicators from the current World Travel Market event in London suggest that Lanzarote is in for a bumper 2016. With passenger numbers from the UK, the island’s key market, projected to rise, alongside other important territories such as France and Eire.

Spanish airport authority AENA has stated that the number of slots allocated to UK based airlines is already up by 8.3% for next summer. As TUI, Thomas Cook, easyJet, Jet2 and British Airways all confirmed an increase in their services to the island. Whilst in France, Lanzarote’s fastest growing market, double digit growth in passenger numbers is also predicted for next year.

According to the Canaries Regional Minister for Tourism all of the islands are experiencing an upsurge in demand for next summer as holidaymakers abandon the crisis struck Middle East in favour of safe and familiar destinations. A trend illustrated by a 38% increase in advance package holiday bookings next summer across the Canaries as a whole.

So far this year Lanzarote welcomed over 1.87 million arrivals at Arrecife airport between January and September end, a figure that is up by 3.45% on 2014's figures.
