ALL IN Real Figures For All Inclusive Holidays Hit 60%

The number of holidaymakers taking all inclusive breaks on Lanzarote continues to rise, according to the latest report released by ISTAC, the Canarian Institute of Statistics – with this sector accounting for 41% of all holidays during the third quarter of this year, a figure that is up by 7% on the previous quarter.

All inclusive breaks have been marketed far more aggressively by companies such as TUI and Thomas Cook since the onset of the financial crisis in 2008, as hotel chains and tour operators have sought to maintain occupancy rates during the downturn. As a result this sector of the market has more than doubled over the last seven years and now accounts for at least one in three of all holidays booked.

However the real figures are in fact much higher, according to AETUR president Victoriana Elvira, who has stated that the size of the all inclusive sector on Lanzarote is closer to 60% than the 41% quoted in official figures. As many local businesses offer all inclusive facilities unofficially and off the record.
