MAIN ATTRACTIONS Tourist Centre Admissions Rise 6% in 2015

Lanzarote’s main tourist attractions, such as the Timanfaya Volcano Park and the Jameos del Agua, were visited over 2.7 million times during the course of 2015. Representing their second best year ever for admissions.

A total of 2,755,909 visits were recorded, representing a 5.79% increase on 2014 – a figure which correlates closely with last year’s 5% increase in foreign tourist arrivals. Making this the best year for the seven main Centres of Art, Culture and Tourism since the heady days of the late 1990’s, when admissions topped 2.8 million in 1998.

The Timanfaya Volcano Park remains Lanzarote’s top attraction, drawing in 931,218 visitors. Followed by the Jameos del Agua (705.067), Mirador del Rio (376,253) and the Cuevas de los Verdes (374,798). Total admissions figures also exclude the Monumento del Campesino and the César Manrique Foundation, with the latter falling outside the jurisdiction of the island administration.
