COOK UP Tourists 'Dumped' In Wrong Resort By Tour Op

Thomas Cook, the UK’s largest tour operator, has admitted dropping a major clanger after they sent clients Alan and Gail Lindley from Washington, Tyne and Wear to a hotel which is not ABTA bonded and where there was no room available for them to stay.

The Lindley’s originally booked a break at the Flora Apartments in Puerto del Carmen via Thomas Cook’s Flexible Trips brand. But found that on arrival the complex was unable to honour their reservation, leaving them alone to arrange their own emergency overnight accommodation.

The next day, Thomas Cook representatives informed the couple that they would be unable to provide them with substitute accommodation in Puerto del Carmen for the remainder of their holiday. So forcing the Lindley’s to accept the next closest option – a hotel in Playa Blanca, some 20 miles away from their original chosen destination, where they were planning to meet up with friends.

A spokesperson for Thomas Cook UK stated: “We would like to apologise to Mr Lindley for any inconvenience. Our customer services team are speaking directly to Mr Lindley with a view to swiftly resolving this matter to his satisfaction.”
