SEVENTH HEAVEN Island's Beaches Awarded Seven Blue Flags
The number of blue flag beaches on Lanzarote is now back up to seven in total, as both the town beach in Playa Blanca and Playa Cucharas in Costa Teguise have both recovered this special status.
The Blue Flag programme is a global initiative operated under the aegis of the Foundation for Environmental Education, based in Denmark. Who operate an internationally recognised programme of accreditation based on a diverse set of criteria, including environmental, educational, safety and access related factors.
Spain boasts the highest number of blue flag beaches in Europe, with 570 playas enjoying this prestigous seal of approval and 45 beaches in the Canaries now also boast this status.
