MARKET MOVES Tourist Arrivals Up 12.6% In Q1

Provisional statistics have been released which reveal that tourist arrivals have grown by a whopping 12.6% during the first three months of 2016. As Lanzarote and the rest of the Canary Islands continue to benefit from the collapse of competitor markets across North Africa and the Middle East.

The latest figures, released by ISTAC, the Canarian Institute of Statistics, also reveal a major surge in arrivals during March, thanks partially to the fact that Easter fell during that month this year. With total arrivals climbing by 19.8% and the key British and Irish markets showing huge upswings of 42% and 40% respectively.

However the provisional figures also reveal a downturn in arrivals from Germany, with passenger numbers from that nation down by 13.6% during March.
