HOUSE FLY Ryanair Move Into Holiday Rental Market

Budget carrier Ryanair has unveiled plans to muscle into the accommodation market with the creation of a new rental arm, Ryanair Rooms.

Ryanair Rooms will come online on October 1st 2016 and in keeping with Ryanair´s business model it will offer travelers the opportunity to book holiday villas and even just spare rooms at the lowest possible prices. As well as hotels, hostels and B and B´s.

Competition in the accommodation sector is now starting to heat up, as witnessed by recent consolidations in the holiday home rental sector. Where Expedia has recently gobbled up HomeAway and Owners Direct, whilst Holiday Lettings and Trip Advisor have recently absorbed HouseTrip into their growing family of online brands.

According to Ryanair spokesperson Kenny Jacobs: “Ryanair’s low fares revolutionised air travel for Europe’s passengers – now with Ryanair Rooms, we’re going to transform booking accommodation. Launching on 1st October, Ryanair Rooms will offer consumers the biggest range of accommodation, including hotels, hostels, B&Bs, homestays and villas, via the website, but all with the same lowest prices we guarantee with our flights."

Ryanair served some 116m customers last year alone and have been instrumental in driving tourist arrivals on Lanzarote since their creation of a hub here on the island a few years ago.
