PROUD TRADITION Monumento Promotes Island Folklore

A new programme of events designed to promote traditional island folklore has been launched at the Monumento al Campesino in Mozaga.

The Monumento, which was created by the ubiqitous Cesar Manrique, has long provided a showcase for local arts and crafts but now this role has been revitalised by local tourist minister Echedey Eugenio who has scheduled a whole raft of new activities across the summer months.

These include live folk music and dancing every Sunday from 14.00 in the impressively designed La Era restuarant as well as pottery classes with local artisan Juan Brito from Tuesday to Saturday and an innovative new Lanzarote Experience workshop which invites tourists to come and create their very own Canarian mojo or sauce, running Thursday to Sunday from 12.00 to 16.00.  All of which are entirely free of charge.
