FLYING HIGH Foreign Tourist Arrivals Up 9% In July

The number of foreign tourists visiting Lanzarote rose again last month, according to the latest data just released by ISTAC, the Canarian Institute of Statistics. As Lanzarote enjoyed its busiest month of the year to date, welcoming a total of 225,096 visitors from countries outside of Spain.

The figure represents a 12.99% increase on July 2015 arrivals and with the bulk arriving from the UK the news goes some way towards allaying local fears about the possible negative impact of Brexit on the tourist sector here on Lanzarote.

Overall, visitor numbers have now increased by just over 9% for the year to date versus January to July 2015 figures, as a total of 1,367,390 overseas tourists have enjoyed a holiday on the island during the first seven months of 2016.
