CULTURE CLUB El Almacen Re-Opens After Seven Years

The iconic cultural hub El Almacen in Arrecife is set to re-open at the end of this month, after being closed to the general public for seven years.

The building that houses El Alamacen was taken over and adapted by the island’s favourite son Cesar Manrique in the 1970’s and functioned as a very popular multi-discipline arts centre until it’s closure for building works back in 2009.

In typical local style however these renovations took a little longer than expected as the space had to be bought up to standard in order to comply with new security and accessibility regulations.

But now that long wait is over, as the fully refurbished cultural centre, including the upstairs Luis Bunuel cinema is back in business and a big re-opening ceremony, involving local street closures is planned for the 29th.
