TAKE OFF August Tourist Arrivals Up By 6%

Lanzarote remains firmly on course for another record breaking year, as last month a total of 211,540 foreign tourists took a break on the island, a figure that is up by just over 6% on August 2015 arrivals.

Visitor numbers have risen steadily throughout the year, driven by the collapse of tourism in former competitor destinations across the Middle East, such as Tunisia and Egypt and problems in other European countries.  And so far during the first eight months of 2016 nearly 1.6 million foreign tourists have enjoyed a break on Lanzarote, as both the Canary Islands and Spain enjoy a real renaissance.

Domestic tourism has also enjoyed an upsurge this year, as despite a small dip during August the number of visitors from mainland Spain has so far climbed by 5.23% versus 2015 figures.
