SEAT PLAN Jet2 Expand Lanzarote Capacity By 50%

British based budget airline Jet2 has announced plans to increase the number of seats on it´s UK to Lanzarote routes by nearly 50% over the coming year. As the booming British tourist market shows no signs of slowing, despite Brexit and the recent fall in value of sterling versus the euro.

The cut price carrier currently operates nine routes to Lanzarote from Stansted, Belfast, Birmingham, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester, Newcastle and Leeds, with up to 29 flights in total available per week during peak periods and has recorded significant growth during the recent winter schedule. As a result Jet2 state that they are now on course to offer 620,000 seats for sale on their Lanzarote routes between April 2017 and March 2018.

Competition amongst carriers on UK to Lanzarote routes has intensified over the last few years as demand in the British market, Lanzarote´s largest, has continued to boom. Last year alone just over 1.3 million British holidaymakers visited the island, an increase of 12% versus 2015 figures, accounting for 45% of all tourist arrivals.
