CARNAVAL CAPITAL Arrecife Celebrates Carnival 2017
Carnaval is rolling out across the capital over the coming weeks and here´s where to catch the main events and highlights of this lively annual fiesta.
For the best booming batucada beats hit the streets this Saturday the 25th and head for Calle Real in the centre of the capital. Where some of the island´s leading squadrons will be strutting their stuff from around 12.00 as they wend their way to the Parque Islas Canarias. This is also a festival for foodies as from 13.30 not one but two Tapas Fairs will also be taking place in the Parque Islas Canarias and the Parque Ramirez Cerda.
The main event however takes place on Monday the 27th of February, as the Grand Parade trails through the city from the Cuidad Deportivo at 18.00, heading for the Recinto Ferial. Expect full fancy dress - this years theme is World Tribes - as well as themed floats, more batucada bands and big crowds.
