NEW FRONT €2m Upgrade For Puerto del Carmen

The Canary Islands government plans to pump another 2 million euros into improving the sea front promenade in Lanzarote´s largest resort of Puerto del Carmen this year. As the destination celebrates it´s 50th anniversary as a holiday hot spot.

Puerto del Carmen has become one of the most popular holiday destinations in the Canaries over the last decade, boasting some of the highest hotel and apartment occupancy figures in the archipelago, so contributing significant sums to the local economy. As a result local authorities deem it vital to continue investing in the resort´s infrastructure in order to maintain competitiveness - and numerous improvement schemes are planned over the course of the coming year, including upgrades to existing hotels such as the iconic Los Fariones and investment in areas such as the Old Town harbour.

This specific scheme is designed to improve the section of the seafront promenade that runs from the Beatriz hotel in Matagordoa to the Los Jameos Playa in Los Pocillos. And will encompass the creation of green areas and the addition of new outdoor furniture, as well as improvements to the condition of the walkway itself - all of which will help to enhance the overall visitor experience in-resort.
