LOW RISE Tourist Arrivals Up By 3% in February

The number of tourists visiting Lanzarote rose yet again last month by a total of 3.3%. As 234,143 visitors stepped onto the tarmac at Arrecife airport.

The UK accounted for 43% of these arrivals - as 101,855 British holidaymakers enjoyed a break on the island during February. But this figure is only 1.8% up on 2016 figures, suggesting possibly that growth in Lanzarote´s largest market may just be starting to slow. Whilst arrivals from Germany and Spain, the island´s second and largest markets fell by 5% and 8% respectively.

The Italian market showed the largest growth rate of 58%, but that´s versus a small base of just 2,908 arrivals in February 2016. Total foreign arrivals, excluding Spanish visitors from the mainland, rose 4.3% for the month.
