DONKEY DERBY Ex-Python Terry Gilliam Seeks Ass

Another major motion picture is filming in the Canaries this month. And director Terry Gilliam is in the process of auditioning local donkeys for a starring role.

The neighbouring island of Fuerteventura is the location for the ex Python´s latest production - The Man Who Killed Don Quixote. And everything is in place to commence filming in La Oliva and Tuineje from May 18th to 27th - with the exception of the all important asses!

Gilliam´s comic adaption of the Miguel Cervantes classic has been in the pipeline for many years and is now finally coming to fruition thanks to 16 million worth of funding from Spanish, Belgian and Portuguese sources. Scenes for the movie have already been shot in other locations, including Toledo and Navarra, starring the British actors Ewan McGregor and Jonathan Pryce, alongside American stars, such as Robert Duvall and Adam Driver. And now it´s Fuerteventura´s turn to take a starring role.

As a result Gilliam´s production team are currently scouring the island for appropriate mules and plan to work with a local company called Pretiles, who operate donkey tours for tourists. The Man Who Killed Don Quixote is just the latest in a stream of motion picture productions that have been filmed in the archipelago, taking advantage of the generous tax breaks offered here by the Canarian Government.
