GAME PLAN Monopoly Launches Canary Islands Edition

Mount Teide, Timanfaya and other iconic island locations are now up for sale - but only in exchange for wads of monopoly money. As the world´s most famous board game is about to launch a new Canary Islands edition.

Monopoly was first launched back in 1935 and has since been translated into 43 languages and played in 111 countries around the globe. In recent years UK makers Winning Moves (under license from Hasbro) have successfully launched a range of Spanish local editions - covering cities and islands such as Ibiza, Granada, Barcelona and Madrid. And now its the Canary Islands turn to get the big game treatment - with a bi-lingual English/Spanish version slated for release sometime in September.

According to a spokesperson; "After the fantastic experiences in Spanish local editions, such as those in Ibiza, Granada, Cantabria and Basque Country, we wanted to create a new star of the Monopoly universe, after months deliberating on what could be the next, we concluded that the Canaries was the perfect candidate. This special edition is undoubtedly our great homage and we are sure that the players will appreciate it and enjoy to the maximum with the idea of ??becoming the owners of all the most symbolic sites of the Canaries."
