ALL OUT Strike Closes Lanzarote Tourist Attractions

Strike action has now closed all of Lanzarote´s main tourist attractions, with the sole exception of the Monumento al Camepsino. Whilst tonight´s scheduled Jameos Music Festival has also been cancelled.

Industrial action started on Tuesday as workers walked out of all of the island´s key attractions, such as the Timanfaya National Park and the Mirador del Rio in a finance related dispute, leaving management to try to keep the lights on with just a skeleton staff whilst tourists just walked in free of charge.

These attempts to maintain a semblance of order have now failed, resulting in the highly embarrassing closure of all but one of Lanzarote´s Centres of Art, Culture and Tourism at the very height of the tourist season. Observers estimate that the closures are also costing somewhere in the region of 100,000 euros per day in terms of lost revenue.
