TAKE OFF Foreign Tourist Arrivals Up 8.5% In August

August proved to be another record breaking month for tourist arrivals here on Lanzarote - as the number of foreign holidaymakers booking a break soared again by 8.5%.

Despite the weakness of sterling against the euro and Brexit concerns arrivals from the UK, Lanzarote´s largest market, climbed by 9% - as a total of 136,026 British holidaymakers touched down at Arrecife airport.

Arrivals from other key markets such as Germany and Eire also rose - by 2.1% and 7.6% respectively. Whilst other smaller markets such as Italy and Belgium both recorded year on year growth in excess of 20%.

On the downside arrivals from the rest of Spain dropped sharply by nearly 16% - pegging overall growth back to 4.6% - equivalent to a total of 281,576 holidaymakers for the month.

Over the course of the year to date tourist arrivals are now up by 10% versus January-August 2016 - with a total of 2,082,607 passengers logged.
