IN FLIGHT Tourist Arrivals Continue To Soar

Foreign tourist arrivals continue to climb on Lanzarote - rising by nearly 9% again in September versus 2016 figures, as Lanzarote welcomed 215,259 non-Spanish arrivals from across Europe.

The total number of foreign holidaymakers enjoying a break on the island is now very close to hitting the 2 million mark during the first nine months of this year. And British tourism has accounted for well over 50% of this volume - as the number of UK tourists touching down at Arrecife airport hit 1,105,899 arrivals, up nearly 12% year on tear.

Germany and Eire are the second and third largest source of tourist arrivals, accounting for 263,005 and 200,166 passengers respectively. With the Low Countries of Holland and Belgium combined in fourth place with 87,282 arrivals followed by the fast growing French (76,994) and Italian (67,994) markets.

Arrivals from Spain are also up for the year to date by 3.84% - giving an overall total figure for the first nine months of this of 2,366,448 tourists.
