AIR PRESSURE British Arrivals Down In October

British tourist arrivals dropped by 2% in October according to provisional figures just released by ISTAC, the Canarian Insitute of Statistics and Frontur. Whilst overall tourist arrivals were up only marginally by 2.6% for the month.

Has British tourism reached it´s high water mark? The latest ISTAC stats suggest this may be a possibility, as arrivals from the UK displayed a rare dip during the course of October, with around 3,300 less British holidaymakers booking a break here on Lanzarote. Whilst French arrivals also retracted by 9.4% year on year and the Spanish market shrank by nearly 10%.

Other markets such as Germany and Holland recorded healthy growth though, up 15% and 17% respectively, helping to buoy total tourist arrivals for October by 2.6%, as Lanzarote welcomed a total of 285,689 holidaymakers.

And overall for the year to date 2.61 million tourists have visited Lanzarote, a figure that´s up by 8.6% versus the first ten months of 2016.
