LOW BLOW Temperature Falls To Just Eight Degrees

Tourists who booked a sunshine break on Lanzarote this week have been left shivering in some of the lowest winter temperatures ever recorded.

Winter sun seekers will have been left bitterly disappointed, as well as cold, yesterday as the thermometer fell as low as eight degrees Celsius in certain parts of the island.

AEMET, the state meteorological agency reported a reading of just eight degrees at the island’s airport yesterday morning, with little more in the way of warmth emanating from other weather stations on the island, with Yaiza recording the hottest reading of just 10.1 degrees.

Downpours of rain over the last few days have turned to hail in certain locations such as Tias and Conil, helping to drive temperatures well below their seasonal norms.
