UPLIFT Tourist Arrivals Climb 5% In February

After a disappointing 10% downturn in January, tourist arrivals grew by 5.2% in February, according to the latest data just released by ISTAC and Frontur.

Tourist arrivals climbed by 5.2% in February, versus 2017 figures, as a total of 246,215 holidaymakers touched down at Arrecife airport.

This growth in arrivals helped to reverse a disappointing January, when arrivals fell by just over 10% - leaving total passenger numbers for the first two months of the year down by just 2.9%.

As usual, the UK accounted for the bulk of these arrivals with 110,448 passengers in February – a figure that was nearly 10% up year on year. Arrivals from Germany, Lanzarote’s second largest source of foreign tourists were also up by just over 10%, redressing a marked downturn in numbers during January. Whilst Irish and Spanish arrivals were largely static year on year.
