FLIGHT NUMBER Arrivals Soar By 10% In March

The number of tourists visiting Lanzarote rose by nearly 10% in March, helped in part by the timing of the Easter break.

Despite a disappointing downturn back in January, when visitor numbers fell by 10% year on year tourist arrivals continued to climb again in March, as a total of 299,270 holidaymakers touched down at Arrecife airport.

This represented a 9.7% increase in total tourist numbers, fuelled partly by the timing of the Easter break. Which drove demand in all key markets with the notable exception of Germany, where arrivals fell by just over 10%.

The UK accounted for the bulk of these arrivals, as 130,270 British tourists visited Lanzarote, a year on year increase of 8.2%. Whilst arrivals from other key markets such as Eire, France and mainland Spain all recorded positive growth.
