WINGING IT 700,000 More Seats To Canaries This Winter

Airlines across Europe have added an additional 700,000 seats to destinations such as Lanzarote and Tenerife this winter.

According to Promotur, the Canary Islands tourist board, seat capacity to the Canary Islands contracted by 2.4% this summer. But the outlook for the coming winter season looks much sunnier, as a number of new European routes and services into the archipelago look set to boost seat capacity by just over 9%, year on year.

The Canary Islands Minister of Tourism, Isaac Castellano has stated that around two thirds of this additional capacity is being made available in foreign markets such as the UK, Germany and in particular France. Where carriers such as Volotea, Smart Wings and easyJet are scheduling 34% more flights to the archipelago than during the Winter 2017 season. Whilst an additional 230,000 seats will be available from the Spanish mainland.
