SECOND BITE Bed Bugs Strike Again In Puerto del Carmen

More British tourists report being “eaten alive” by bed bugs in an as yet unnamed hotel in Puerto del Carmen….

Another British couple have complained in the UK national press that their holiday in Lanzarote’s most popular resort was ruined by bed bugs. Tracy and Chris Leach from Kidsgrove in Staffs recently travelled to Puerto del Carmen as guests of tour operator TUI.

But their hotel break turned into a holiday nightmare after finding that they were sharing their bed with hordes of bugs. Initially Tracy was diagnosed with chicken pox by a local doctor, before closely inspecting her mattress and finding it infested with bed bugs. The couple were given an alternative room and their luggage was fumigated.

A TUI spokesperson stated "We’re really sorry to hear about Mrs Leach’s experience. We’ve since been in direct contact to apologise and offer a full refund which the customer has accepted. We’d like to reassure customers that we regularly audit all of the hotels we feature in respect of health and safety, including hygiene."

The hotel in question has not yet been named, however only last week another couple reported a similar incident whilst staying at the Lanzarote Palm Hotel in Puerto del Carmen.
