FLIGHTMARE Drone Attacks Close Gatwick Airport

Flights to and from Lanzarote have been disrupted by a drone attack at Gatwick this morning.

A drone pilot has managed to shut down Gatwick airport this morning, causing massive disruption for an estimated 100,000 travellers on one of the busiest days of the year.

Drone incursions apparently continue unabated, resulting in the closure of runways until at least midday. Flights were first aborted last night at 21.00, resulting in massive disruption as incoming flights were diverted to other hubs such as Stansted and Luton. A Gatwick spokesperson has suggested it could take days to recover full services.

Flights out of Gatwick to Lanzarote are now experiencing substantial delays whilst passengers returning from the island to the UK will also experience disruption to services.
