ALL CLEAR No Coronavirus Cases On Lanzarote

Lanzarote remains a Coronavirus free zone after yesterday’s test on a young male proved negative….

Fears that the first case of Coronavirus on Lanzarote may have been identified have proved groundless, after yesterday’s test of a young local male who recently visited Italy returned a negative result.

To date, Coronavirus is only present in the Canaries on the islands of Tenerife and La Gomera, totalling seven cases. With 23 cases across Spain as a whole now reported.

On Tenerife, 168 British tourists who have been quarantined at the H10 Costa Adeje Palace with around 540 guests from other countries have been informed today by their airline and tour operator, Je2, that they will not be flying home until they have been tested and cleared of Coronavirus. To date four Italian guests staying at the Costa Adeje Palace have tested positive.

A Jet2 spokesperson stated, “We will not fly any customer who has stayed at the H10 Costa Adeje Palace during the quarantine, until this incubation period has passed or unless they have been explicitly tested for Covid-19 by a recognised authority and are confirmed as clear of the virus.”

On La Gomera, which closely neighbours Tenerife, a woman who recently visited Italy tested positive earlier this week. Following the first case identified previously of a German tourist, who tested positive, was placed in quarantine and has subsequently been released.

The Canary Islands government maintain that all of the seven islands in the archipelago are entirely safe to visit and are planning a campaign to encourage tourists to continue visiting. Whilst Canarian President Angel Victor Torres has called for calm and reiterated this message, adding that the islands boast first class medical facilities.

Here on Lanzarote a school in Playa Blanca has suspended their Carnival parade as a precautionary measure. But the island remains Coronavirus free at this time.
