New Attractions At Teguise Market

The perennially popular Sunday Market in Teguise is set to broaden its appeal with a range of new activities and attractions beginning this Sunday February 20th. Amongst the new additions will be a show featuring birds of prey and snakes and a regular folklore music offering.

Children´s entertainment will mean a range of workshops and activities are on offer between 10.30 and 13.00 in the Plaza Canaria, the largest square in the town. Between 11.00 and 12.00 a typical folklore group will play traditional Canarian music in the Plaza de la Constitucion, in front of the church of Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. The birds of prey and snake show is timetabled for 12.00 in the Plaza Canaria.

The following Sunday, 27th February will have an additional attraction, with demonstrations of local sports, such as Lucha Canaria or Canarian wrestling taking place in the pavilion beside the Plaza Canaria at 11.30. Donkey riding and a mini children´s park are also planned in the area by the old windmill, next to the Plaza Canaria.

The aim is to reinvigorate the market with a number of new attractions, in addition to the numerous stalls selling local produce, such as fruit and vegetables, goat´s cheese and home-made desserts.
