Ryanair Open Up Italian Market

Lanzarote could soon be enjoying an upsurge in visitor numbers from Italy. As Ryanair announce the inauguration of a new route between Milan and the island. Which is being supported with a special promotion offering 500,000 seats at just €7 return.

Italian tourists already visit other regions of Spain in significant numbers. With destinations such as Ibiza in the Balearics particularly popular. However the lack of a direct route between Lanzarote and Italy has so far restricted Italian tourist visits to just over 7,700 arrivals last year.

The low budget airline has already created routes between Bologna and Venice and Lanzarote, which have already proved popular with Italian visitors over the winter. Now the head of marketing for Ryanair in Spain, Luis Fernandez-Mellado, is hopeful that the increase in direct flights between Italy and the Canary Islands will strengthen links between the two countries.
