Record Easter Admissions At Main Attractions

Lanzarote´s main visitor attractions registered record admissions over the course of Easter week, according to figures just released by Lanzarote´s Cabildo. With 13,000 visitors paying into attractions such as the Jameos del Agua and the Timanfaya National Park last Wednesday alone.

Lanzarote´s Centres of Art, Culture and Tourism continue to enjoy a bumper start to 2011, according to the latest figures just released by the Cabildo, the island government.

Having already enjoyed their best first quarter since 2001, with nearly 600,000 admissions recorded during the first three months of this year, the Centres welcomed record numbers of visitors through their doors during Semana Santa, or Easter week, too. Peaking at 13,000 visitors during the course of one day alone, last Wednesday.

This uplift in admissions is partly atributable to the fact that three large cruise liners, Queen Victoria, Aida Blue and the Black Watch were all docked in Puerto Marmoles last week. Whilst also reflecting the fact that visitor numbers have also been buoyed in recent months by the difficulties in the Middle East. Which have helped to divert tourists sway from destinations such as Egypt and Tunisia to alternatives such as Lanzarote and the other Canary Islands.
