IN THE MIX Launch Of Lanzarote’s First Vermouth

Cocktail lovers can now shake up their very own home-grown martinis thanks to the launch of Lanzarote’s first locally produced vermouth.

Created by the island’s smallest boutique winery, Bodegas La Morra de Tinajo and named after their postcode, 35560, this fortified wine has been infused with various botanicals, herbs and spices and is available in both a pink rose and classic white blanco variety – initially in a limited run of 1500 bottles.

The modern-day version of vermouth was first produced for medicinal purposes in Turin during the 18th century, but has since found fame as an aperitif and classic cocktail ingredient, providing the base for The Martini and The Manhattan amongst many others.

This new vermouth is the latest addition to a growing range of artisan and craft produced drinks products created here on Lanzarote, including a growing range of micro brewed beers and Lanzarote’s first domestic gin brand. It’s available for sale in selected local outlets as well as online from the Lanzarote Natural website, priced at 18 euros per 75cl bottle.
